Ong-bak and Night of the Living Dead

So I'm sick today. Sucks. I'm worried about my kids. Eh...

Since I'm sick I watched Night of the Living Dead (yes, the original from 1960-something, George A. Romero). It wasn't bad. It wasn't great, for there are better zombie movies. But considering this movie was the first in its genre, not bad. For anyone curious about what kind of zombies are in this movie, they are the walking kind (can't run), unlike Dawn of the Dead and 28 Days Later, but similar to Resident Evil 1 and 2 and Shaun of the Dead. I can't tell what kind is in Land of the Dead; maybe I'll see that today.

I also recently watched Ong-bak. Awesome martial arts movie with no guns or even many midieval (sp) weapons. It features the new entertainment martial artist Tony Jaa (real name?) who is quite the badass. Supposedly he uses no stunt-doubles, strings, or special effects. He has some killer moves and is better than any other entertainment martial artist I have ever seen. He's Thai also; not Japanese or Chinese. His best line in the movie, after trampling on some guys face is "The mustang has galloped on your face!"

Cousins Beyond the Sea

So here are my cousins at a swim meet Thursday:

They're cute. And I saw Beyond the Sea (about Bobby Darrin). I didn't enjoy it very much (though Kevin Spacey sings very well). I thought it is probably because I don't really know who he is. But my dad told me that he heard it is bad for people who do know who he is because its not the real him or something. Eh... Oh well.

Water Day was Crazy

So the head teacher in my class wasn't there today and Colleen and I had the kids all to ourselves. Oh boy. We did pretty well and they had their snack and all. Then Water Day happened (we set up a sprinkler and they ran around for 30 mins). But then I get out my camera cuz they look so cute and they're having so much fun. I snap a picture of one of the kids without realizing that they are standing there saying nothing:

Poor guy. He was sobbing, saying he couldn't move because he was dirty. Later we were dancing inside and two or three kids (not sure) collided heads. Then I told a girl to sit over here instead of there and she started crying. Boy was that loud. It all worked out. And look at the pretty things I made:

So those were fun. The bracelet is my name in binary (white=0, red=1). The Perler bead colors (green and black) were inspired by Missy Elliot's Lime Green Limbourghini with a custom lime green and black interior with a floor mat that says "Missy."

Funny Links, Teen Girl Squad, etc.

Forget the funny links. Everyone has seen too many of those in the last few years. But there is a new teen girl squad out on http://www.homestarrunner.com It's pretty funny. Not the best. I guess I am Science Fiction Greg. Nice! and Staplesauce, that is Scraptastic.

I thought I had something funny to say. About... damn kids... or crap. Damn kids. Oh yeah, Sunil has funny pics recently at http://www.hipposandrhinos.com/potd.shtml . I'll put up some pics of the things I make in school. Not yet though. I'm tired.

I've named my cactus Dietrich. How often do I water him?

Review: Cinderella Man, Batman Begins, Kiki's Delivery Service

So I saw Cinderella Man tonight. Good movie. It was more than 2 hours long but didn't feel it. There are no surprising twists in the movie, but it is still suspenseful. It is one of those movies that isnt about winning but about fighting to survive, so you aren't sure if he is going to win each fight or not. I really enjoyed it.

So I saw Batman Begins on Wednesday. That was damn good! Christian Bale is a fuckin badass. He had to work doubly hard to get the role because he had lost 60 lbs for The Machinist (great movie) and then had to gain it all back in muscle in just a matter of months. Because Batman has no supernatural powers, he has to just be fuckin scary. I think the director and Bale did a kick ass job. And the girl is cute. Really cute.

On Thursday I brought in Kiki's delivery Service (Hayao Miyazaki) for the kids. They really liked it. I enjoy that movie and if you liked Princess Mononoke, you probably will to. It's lighter and more for kids, but enjoyable. If you want to see a Miyazaki movie in the theatre, go for Howl's Moving Castle. That was really good. Miyazaki's worlds are just so beautiful. That's all.

Damn kids!

So I work at this elementary school (Villa Montessori) doing swimming lessons and crap. I need to get pictures. Weird things happen like on Friday we made Father's Day presents (Pen / pencil holders out of flower pots). This little Asian girl is adopted by two women I think though (She calls them both Mom). One of the other teachers says so as well. That was kinda weird. Someone else's parents are both deceased I think, but luckily he wasn't there on Friday. Other than that, the kids are sweet. We made pudding and food colored it. Holy shit! Food coloring is the greatest thing ever! I was so excited. I now food color my coffee and my soda and Rockstar. So awesome. The kids weren't all that excited because fuckin all their food is food colored. Damn Trix yogurt and jello and crap. Damn kids!

Review: Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Donnie Darko

So I saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith and must say I really enjoyed it. I think overall it was a pretty entertaining movie. The action wasn't kick-ass or anything, but entertaining. I really loved "Bradjolie"'s chemistry on screen. Their relationship in the movie is very cute especially because they're both mother fucking hot. That other actor was good too... Brad's friend. Whatever.

I also saw Donnie Darko for the third time the other day and enjoyed it for the third time. I attempted to explain the plot to my brothers after we watched it and I think I did a pretty good job. My only problem was the giant bunny rabbit. I don't know how he appears and disappears at will or, if he is only a figment of Donnie's imagination, how Donnie imagines him. Does anyone know?

the cutest thing i have ever owned

So today I bought the cutest thing I have ever owned. I have a picture of him.

How cute is he? Goodness. I haven't come up with a name for him. But it will be something ethnic; I'm thinking Indian or French... or German.

Review: Unleashed

I saw Unleashed the other day and didn't think it was too bad. It certainly was not one of Jet Li's best films. Possibly because DMX wasn't in it?

Well the story is good enough, but there's too much downtime in the middle, just a lot of plot and character development. The story was not ruined by Jet Li's sometimes criticized acting; he wasn't bad at all acting as a "dog." The fights weren't amazing either. There was a pretty good fight in the middle involving 4 guys vs Jet Li and then another one in a bathroom stall with a guy and Jet Li. Similarly, not some of Jet Li's better fights, but satisfactory.

All in all, I probably won't watch it on my own out of boredom or anything. Twin Warriros, Cradle to the Grave, and Fist of Legend are much better.

Should I keep doing movie reviews? I'm really generous I guess; I love all movies. Except Mission to Mars; that sucked.

My New Blog

I got a blog. Deal with it. I won't post about my personal or emotional life or any crap like that. I'm out of high school. I'll probably just post interesting things on this, maybe rant, but not about girls or crap. I mostly got this for experimenting, before I get an actual site going in a year or so. Blogger is owned by Google, making it automatically a beautiful thing. That's it for now. I'm gonna go customize how this "feels."
